Hi [Name]. I run Masterful, a practice that helps independent lodges rank in organic search, appear in Google's AI overviews, and get cited in ChatGPT and Perplexity results. Finding 01

You don't rank on page one for any of the searches your ideal guest runs before booking.

When a traveller searches 'luxury safari lodge near [your region]' or 'eco-camp with game drives Kenya,' your competitors fill the first page. Your property appears on page [X] or lower, where it receives less than 1% of click traffic. The guests who find you through Booking.com are often the same guests who would have booked direct had you appeared when they searched. You earned those bookings. The OTA collected the commission because they outranked you.
The Fix
Build two keyword-targeted landing pages for your highest-volume search queries. Add structured location and amenity schema. Fix the technical indexing issues preventing Google from reading your full content. Timeline: measurable ranking lift in 60 to 90 days.

Google's AI Overview answers your guests' travel questions using your competitors' content, not yours.

When a traveller asks Google 'what is the best time to visit the Maasai Mara?' or 'what should I pack for a bush lodge?', Google now answers directly in an AI-generated block above all other results. These AI Overviews pull exclusively from sites with structured FAQ data and schema markup. Your site has neither. The traveller learns from a competitor's content and often books through them. You are invisible at the moment of highest intent.
The Fix
Add FAQ schema to your 10 most-searched questions. Implement LodgingBusiness, Review and LocalBusiness structured data. Build one definitive guide article per major query category. AEO positions solidify in 60 to 90 days.
Finding 03

Ask ChatGPT to name the best lodges in your area. Your property does not appear.

I ran that search. Four properties appeared by name. [Lodge Name] was not one of them. At least 40% of travellers now use AI assistants to research destinations and shortlist properties before they open a booking site. ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google Gemini pull from Wikipedia, authoritative travel directories and structured web data. Your property has minimal presence in any of these sources. You are not losing to a better booking funnel. You are invisible to an entire discovery channel.
The Fix
Submit to the 12 high-authority travel directories that AI models actively cite. Build or update a Wikipedia presence. Seed three editorial features in regional travel publications. GEO visibility compounds over 4 to 6 months and is difficult to reverse once established by competitors.
